Sleeps 4 (one 4’6” double bed and 2 folding bunk beds)
Traditionally, a Shepherd’s Hut was a small mobile shelter, simply furnished with a bed, chair and stove to provide a refuge for the Shepherd during lambing season.

Clad in feather edge oak boarding and mounted on a steel chassis, our Shepherd’s Hut retains the original simplicity but incorporates lots of 21st-century design aspects, Gwdihw Shepherd Hut Holidays in the UK.

Climb the solid oak steps to the stable door and take a look inside….

To your left, you will find an oak table and bench seats where you can enjoy a cuppa, brewed on the gas hob, which is in the kitchen area to your right.  An integrated fridge, with small freezer compartment, and a traditional ceramic Belfast sink set into an oak worktop complete the kitchen.  Crockery, cutlery, utensils, saucepans, and kettle are all provided.  There is no oven, but there are two gas rings where you can cook up a tasty traditional breakfast or simple meal.  If you prefer to eat al fresco, you will discover a picnic bench just outside, as well as a fire pit to keep you warm as you sit out enjoying the peace and quiet in the night air.  Pop the grill over the fire pit and you’re ready to BBQ.

Through the traditional ledge and brace door to your right, you will find the shower room equipped with modern, flushing toilet, wash basin and shower cubicle.

Opposite the kitchen area, a bench seat provides an extra cosy space to sit.  When it comes to bedtime, this bench becomes a single bed and a second bed drops down from the wall above to create a top bunk.  Duvets and pillows for these beds are stowed beneath the main bench seating.

Hidden in the wall beside the table, is a 4’6” double bed.  Simply fold down the table and pull down on the handle on the wall.  The bed, fully made up with duvet and pillows, will be revealed, inviting you to snuggle down and relax.

The Hut is cocooned in a blanket of sheep wool insulation and the wood-burning stove, set on a slate hearth, will keep the whole place snug, if the weather turns.

Electrical power is supplied by solar panels and is therefore limited.  There are no 13 amp sockets in the Shepherd’s Hut, although there is a USB port that can be used to charge a mobile phone or iPad / tablet.  Perhaps you will play some of the board or card games that are tucked away in the Hut, or perhaps settle down with a book.  There are traditional style electric lights so that you

can enjoy your evenings and move around safely in the night, but you would be well advised to keep an eye on the battery monitor to help you to consider your power usage.  Otherwise, you may find that you need to resort to the emergency torch instead.

If you are out and about, returning after dark, you will need to remember to take a torch with you to help you find your way back to the Shepherd’s Hut in the dark.  The motion-activated wall lantern will guide you to the door.

Our Shepherd’s Hut is small but packed full of comfortable features.  If you have any additional requirements, please do let us know before booking and we will do our best to help you.

Please read our booking policy before making a reservation as it includes important additional information relating to your stay.
